# Back

Returns customers to the page they came from.

Back is the only button Twinr adds for you. It sits at the far left of every screen's navigation bar and returns customers to the page they were on.

## It appears when it is needed

Back is hidden on the first page of a screen, because there is nowhere to go back to. The moment a customer taps through to a product, a category or a checkout step, it appears. Go back far enough and it disappears again.

You do not have to configure any of this.

## What you can change

Click the pencil on the **Back** row to change its **icon** — a left chevron by default. Upload your own `.png`, `.jpg` or `.jpeg`, or choose from the supplied icons.

{% hint style="info" %}
A back arrow is one of the most recognised symbols on a phone. Unless your brand has a strong reason, the default is the safer choice — customers find an unfamiliar back icon slower to use.
{% endhint %}

## What you cannot change

* **It cannot be deleted.** Without it, a customer who taps into a product page has no way back short of closing the app.
* **It stays leftmost.** Try to drag another button above it and the portal refuses: *You can not reorder the back button to the lower position.*
* **It is always on the left.** There is no *Move to Right* for Back.

{% hint style="info" %}
Android phones also have their own system back gesture, which works in your app whether or not the bar is showing. iPhones do not — which is exactly why this button cannot be removed.
{% endhint %}
